Erica brings 18 years of experience as an art director, curriculum designer, and general creative problem solver to her role of coordinating programs at Farmer Foodshare. She also understands the power of volunteerism, having first engaged with Farmer Foodshare as a Donation Station volunteer at the Durham Farmers Market.
Born in St. Louis, MO, and raised across the country, Erica and her family moved from Chicago to Durham in 2017. Before joining Farmer Foodshare, Erica specialized in promoting African American food brands in the general market, served with several non-profit and civil rights organizations, and developed equitable STEM education initiatives through the Digital Youth Network, and YOUmedia Chicago. She also took time away from the workforce to be an at-home parent for her three sons.
Erica is a country girl at heart and loves being close to nature and agriculture. With one foot on concrete and one in the mud, she enjoys that city and country life are easily within reach throughout the beautiful state of North Carolina. In her downtime, Erica stewards one mostly wooded acre with her family, 8 surly hens, and one brown dog named Rooster. She enjoys writing, photography, gardening, creating habitat for pollinators and resident wildlife, and is completing a certification in Permaculture Design.
